In partnership with the Nor-Gwyn Little League the Chestnut Hill College Baseball team took part in the Second Annual Nor-Gwyn Little League Baserunning and Fielding Clinic at Hostelley Field in North Wales on Friday.
The clinic was attended by over 50 players and also included ten softball players. Coach Hailey Aspinwall from Total Skills offered the softball instruction with help from Griffins baseball player
Andrew Sawarynski.
Â
"It's a really great opportunity for us coaches and players to give back, said Griffins' Assistant Coach Ed Omelia.  "It's a chance for us all to remember how pure of a sport baseball/softball is and how young it starts. The kids want to learn and have fun and if we can provide that for them, it's a win for everyone. We owe it as coaches and players to give back when we can. We have a great relationship with Nor-Gwyn and this clinic is always a great way to wind down our fall college season spending some time with the Hawks players."Â

Â
Chestnut Hill ballplayers worked with the attendees, aged seven through 13 focusing on baserunning and fielding skills. Using techniques and drills learned  throughout their collegiate careers, the Griffins worked with the young players on each of the skill areas.   The players went through the CHC warmup and throwing program and then were broken down into position specific drills and finished with baserunning drills and relays.
"Being able to give back to the local baseball and softball players from Nor-Gwyn Little League means a lot because I remember when I was in their shoes looking up to college players," said junior pitcher
Jake Schweiker.Â
Â

"It's a great opportunity to make an impact on our neighboring community, "adds graduate studentÂ
R.J. Huth. Â "The biggest goal of this is to have the kids enjoy themselves and want to come back and play baseball the next day. If we can help keep them interested and motivated then we will be doing our part in giving back to the game"
