Twelve different players scored as the Chestnut Hill College men's basketball team extended their current win streak to four games as they cruised to an 83-52 victory over Holy family University Tuesday night in Northeast Philadelphia.

The Griffins improve to 14-12 overall and 8-7 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. More importantly Chestnut Hill moves another step closer to clinching a berth in the CACC Tournament for the second year in a row.  The Griffins are in second place just ½ game ahead of Goldey-Beacom College, their next opponent. Holy Family falls to 9-16 overall and 3-12 in league play.
James Rider IV led three Griffins in double figures with 13 points (4-8 FG, 3-6 3FG).Â
Nigel Haughton and
Amir Warrick had 11 points apiece. Haughton connected on five of six shots from the field, including a three-point basket while Warrick made four of seven shots from the field and three field goals.
Trevonn Pitts was a perfect 4-4 from the field with eight points and
Adam Angwafo also contributed eight points.Â
MJ Iraldi led the team with eight rebounds while Angwafo added six. Iraldi and
Lucas Dunn led the team with five assists apiece.
The Griffins led this game wire-to-wire, jumping out to an early 8-2 lead and expanding it to double figures, 27-17 following a hook shot from Pitts with 4:21 remaining in the opening half. Pitts bucket was part of a 13-2 spurt from the Griffins in the final 6:44 to close out the half leading 34-19.
CHC's lead fluctuated between 14-17 points over the first six minutes of the second half until a three-point basket from
Noah Charles pushed the lead to 20, 50-30 with 12:58 remaining. A 12-6 run by the Griffins followed and they led 62-36 midway through the half. Holy Family cut the lead to 21, 62-41 with 8:54 remaining but this would be as close as they would come. The Griffins continued to pull away and pushed the lead as high as 33 in the final minute before a layup from HFU's Erik Esposito made the final score 83-52.
Esposito led the tigers with 19 points while Rick'heem Nixon added 13 and David Robinson jr. chipped in ten.
For the game the Griffins made 27 of 39 shots from two-point range (69.2%) and six of 20 from beyond the arc (30%) to finish the game shooting 55.9% (33-59), the team's best shooting night since their home opener back in November against Millersville University (57.1%). CHC outscored the Tigers 42-22 in the paint. The Tigers shot just 25.4% for the game (15-59). The Griffins held a big rebounding advantage 47-32 and turned in a nice assist/turnover ratio 20/15.

The men's basketball team returns to action when they travel south to face Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday, February 18, 2023. Tipoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
