Bowling Team Sits in Fourth Place after 3-2 Day at Wildcat D2 Invitational

The Chestnut Hill College Women's Bowling team captured three of their five matches on the second day of the Wildcat D2 Invitational at Bowlerama in Wilmington Delaware, finishing the two-day match portion of the tournament with a 5-4 record.

Heading into Sunday's bracket round, the Griffins sit in fourth place with a total pinfall of 9,143.  Mercyhurst University, ranked #14 in the latest NTCA poll is in first with a total pinfall of 9,385.

Maddie Gannon led the Griffins in Saturday's traditional match format, breaking 200 in three of the five matches and scoring no lower than 190 in the other two.  Her five match average was 213.20, placing her fourth overall among the 46 bowlers who competed in at least four matches on Saturday.  Her fourth place finished earned her a spot on the All-Tournament team.

The Griffins opened the day with their highest series of the season, defeating a strong nationally ranked Mercyhurst squad, 1014-959.  Gannon led the team with a score of 232 while Kayleina McGonigal bowled a 213 and Eryn Moore a 201.

Jess Hollabaugh, who was 12th overall individually on Saturday with a 193.6 average, and Gannon bowled 234 and 233 respectively in the Griffins second match as they defeated Molloy University 983-845.  Maddy Feldschneider also broke 200 with a score of 209.

Wilmington defeated the Griffins in the third match 976-869.  Hollabaugh led the team with a score of 194 while Gannon bowled a 190.

Gannon led the team with a score of 215 as they narrowly were defeated by Bloomfield College 938-932.

In the Griffins' final match of the day, the team defeated Saint Thomas Aquinas College 924-700.  Moore led the Griffins with a score of 204 while Gannon bowled a 196 and Hope Widmer a 193.

The Griffins will open bracket play on Sunday with a best-of-seven baker match against host Wilmington University. Two more bracket matches will follow to determine the final placing of all the participants.
