Lions Snap Griffins Win Streak in Regular Season Finale

The Chestnut Hill college Men's Basketball team had their five game winning streak snapped Saturday evening as Georgian Court University handed the Griffins a 67-58 loss at Sorgenti Arena in the regular season finale for both teams.

The Griffins finished the regular season with a 15-13 overall record and a 9-8 mark in Central Atlantic collegiate conference games.  The Lions improved to 8-9 in league play and 12-15 overall.

Prior to the game the Griffins honored six senior players on the men's basketball squad: Trevonn Pitts, Conor Regan, James Rider IV, Nigel Haughton, Ibrahim Sylla and Amir Warrick. The six seniors have combined to score 4,096 points over the course of their careers as Griffins with Warrick becoming the tenth player in program history to reach the 1,000 point milestone earlier this season.

Back to the game, Warrick led four CHC players in double figures with 16 points. (5-11 FG, 6-6 FT).   Regan, Pitts and MJ Iraldi added 11 points apiece. Haughton led the team with eight rebounds.

The Griffins struggled all night from three point range with Haughton hitting the team's only three-pointer in 25 total attempts (1-25, 4%).  CHC made just 27% of the field goal attempts (16-59) but also shot 32 free throws, making 25 (78.1%).

Chestnut Hill led the entire first half, opening up a seven point advantage at halftime 36-29 following two Haughton free throws.  The Lions crawled back into the game in the first eight minutes of the second half, tying the game twice once at 42-all and the second time at 45-all.  Cameron Edmonds sank a three-point basket with 11:27 left in regulation to give GCU just their second lead of the game, a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the way.

Clint Wright Jr. led all scorers with 25 points for the Lions.  Cameron Edmonds and Hassan Jackson added 17 and 10 respectively coming off the bench as the Lions bench outscored the Griffins bench 27-13.
