The Chestnut Hill College Men's Tennis team lost a tough match against a strong region opponent on Wednesday, falling 7-0 at Queens College (NY) at the QC Tennis Bubble.
The Griffins fall to 5-3 overall while Queens improves to 6-2.
Queens took the early lead by sweeping all three doubles matches with the #1 doubles match being the closest of the three contests.Â
Tom Pitchley and
Noah Cutting dropped that match to Roni Rikkonen and Kareem Rashad, 6-4.
In singles play, Cutting took Rashad to three sets before falling, 6-3, 3-6, 3-6, allowing the Knights to complete the 7-0 sweep.  Pitchley lost at #2 singles, 4-6, 5-7.Â
Joao Sousa took Philippe Uhde to a second set tiebreaker before falling 1-6, 7-6 (2-7) at #4 singles. The #5 singles match was the other match that a Griffins player won at least four games in a set as
Antonio Franquis fell, 4-6, 4-6 to Omar El Shehawey.
The men's tennis team returns to action with a match on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Millersville University. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
