The Chestnut Hill College Women's Softball team produced their highest run total in a game this season as they dropped the second game of their doubleheader at Bowie State University, 7-5 allowing the Bulldogs to complete the two-game sweep.
The Bulldogs won the first game 7-1 and with the two wins improve to 12-8. The Griffins fall to 0-18.
Skyler Cunningham had two of the Griffins' three hits in game two along with an RBI.Â
Abbie Alt-Ambriz drove in three runs reaching on an error while
Maya Kemper also had an RBI.
Jordan Tavarez took the loss, falling to 0-5. Tavarez allowed six runs (three earned) on two hits in 1.2 innings pitched.  Alt-Ambriz closed out the game, striking out three and allowing one run on four hits.
Chestnut Hill scored four times in the first inning of the second game, all without the benefit of a hit as Alt-Ambriz reached on a bases loaded outfield error, plating three runs ands later scoring when
Maya Kemper reached on an error, giving the Griffins an early 4-0 lead.
The Bulldogs got the runs back in the bottom half of the first, taking advantage of two Griffin errors to score five times and take a 5-4 lead. BSU added solo runs in the second and sixth innings before the Griffins scored their final run in the seventh as Cunningham singled to plate
Steph Tonuci who was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and make the final score 7-5.
In the opener, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 7-0 lead and made it stand for a 7-1 win, holding the Griffins to just two hits, singles from Tonuci and
Kayla Rolon.
Erin McCarthy took the loss, dropping to 0-5 after giving up four runs on five hits in 2.1 innings pitched.Â
Gabriella Quinones pitched the final 3.2 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out one.
CHC scored their only run in their final at-bat as Rolon singled, stole second and moved to third on an infield out. Quinones then grounded out with Rolon scoring on the play.
The Women's softball team is back in action on Sunday, March 19, 2023 when they host southern New Hampshire University in a regional doubleheader at the CHC softball field. First pitch is set for noon.
