The Chestnut Hill College Men's Tennis team won their first conference game of the 2023 spring season Wednesday afternoon, defeating Dominican University 5-2 at the CHC Tennis courts in Philadelphia.

The Griffins are now 7-4 overall on the season and evened their conference record at 1-1.  Dominican falls to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in league play.

Chestnut Hill jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the match with a sweep of three doubles matches.  Tiago Lima and Joao Sousa started things off with a 6-4 win over Skylar Ross and Tanaka Chabata at #3 doubles.    Marcello Bozzone and Antonio Franquis followed with a 6-3 win at #2 doubles and Tom Pitchley and Noah Cutting completed the sweep with a 7-6 (7-5) win over Guilherme Salim and Marcos Lee at #1 doubles.

Cutting earned the Griffins' first singles point with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Lee at #1 singles and Franquis made it a 3-0 match with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Ross at #4 singles.

The Chargers got on the board with a win at #2 singles, making the score 3-1.  Tobi Michel then clinched the match win for the Griffins, defeating Chabata 6-2, 6-4 at #5 singles.  Lima secured the Griffins' final point with a 6-4, 6-1 win at #3 singles.

The men's tennis team is back in action on Sunday, March 26, 2023 for their second on three conference matches against defensing CACC champion Jefferson University.  The match will be played at Jefferson and first serve is set for noon.
