The Chestnut Hill college Men's Tennis team opened conference play Wednesday afternoon as the Griffins lost to defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference champions Jefferson University 5-2 at the Salaman Courts on Jefferson University's campus in Philadelphia.
The Griffins fall to 4-2 overall and 0-1 in CACC games. The Rams improve to 10-1 overall and 1-0 in league play.
The Rams opened the match with a sweep oif the three doubles contests to capture the doubles point and took a 2-0 lead as Enrique Soto defeated
Tom Pitchley at #2 singles 6-2, 6-4. Â
Noah Cutting brought the Griffins back within one 2-1 with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Jules Thibault at #1 singles.
Jefferson followed by winning the next three matches at #3, #6 and #5 to take a commanding 5-1 lead.Â
Joao Sousa scored the Griffins final point with a 1-6, 6-4, 7-5 win over Mario Antonio at #4 singles.
The men's tennis team returns to action on Thursday, March 9, 2023 when they travel to face University of the District of Columbia. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
