The Chestnut Hill College Women's softball team struggled to put runs on the board as Goldey-Beacom College completed a two-game sweep on Wednesday, defeating the Griffins 4-0 and 7-3.
The Griffins fall to 5-30 overall and 2-10 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. The Lightning improve to 26-18 overall and 5-9 in league play.
Samantha Toro and
Mianna Lopez Del Haro had two hits apiece in the opener.Â
Gabriella Quinones (2-8) pitched a complete game, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out one and walking none.
Goldey-Beacom scored their first run on an inside the park home run in the first inning and did not score again until plating three runs in the sixth inning to make the final score 4-0.

In game two, the Griffins got two hits from
Skyler Cunningham and two from Lopez Del Haro.Â
Jordan Tavarez (1-9) pitched four inning and took the loss, allowing seven runs (one earned) on seven hits while striking out one and walking none.
A sacrifice bunt by
Steph Tonuci in the first inning scored Lopez Del Haro with the first Griffins run. The Lightning took advantage of two CHC errors in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game at 1-1 and added four more unearned runs in the second to take a 5-1 lead.
The Lightning scored their final two runs I the bottom of the fourth to lead 7-1. The Griffins scored twice in the top half of the fifth, with Cunningham opening the inning with a single and scoring on a throwing error and Toro scoring on Lopez Del Haro's RBI single, making the score 7-3.
Abbie Alt-Ambriz pitched the final two innings, allowing just one hit.
The women's softball team is back in action on Saturday, April 15, 2023 when they host Felician University for a doubleheader at the CHC softball field. First pitch is set for noon.
