The Chestnut Hill college women's Lacrosse team closed out their season Saturday afternoon with a 24-3 loss to Jefferson University at victory field in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.
The Griffins close out their season with a 6-10 record and a 3-7 mark in Central Atlantic colelgaite conference games. Their six wins are the most in a single season by the program since 2018 when the team went 12-7.
Senior goalkeeper
Mel Amador also reached a milestone in the contest, becoming just the third player in program history to record 500 career saves, recording 18 on the afternoon to give her 186 for the season and finish her career with 515.
Danielle Vassallo, Madyson Schwartz and
Kaitlyn Carter scored goals for the Griffins. Vassallo led the team with four ground balls.
It was Vassallo's goal with 3:51 left in the first quarter that broke a string of ten straight goals from the Rams to open the game. After a 12-goal first quarter, the Griffins defense held the Rams to just four goals in each of the remaining periods.
Schwartz tallied her team-leading 41
st goal of the season receiving a great pass from
Frances Vassallo and putting a shot in the net with just under a minute left in the second quarter. For
Frances Vassallo it was her team leading 22
nd assist on the season. She finished with 46 total points (24g., 22a.) to lead the team.
The Griffins were a man-down late in the fourth quarter when CHC defender Kaitlyn Cater secured a ground ball off an Amador save and took it down the field to score her third goal of the season.
The Rams scored twice more in the final three minutes to round out the scoring.
