The Chestnut Hill College Men's Tennis team won their second consecutive conference match, defeating Post university 5-2 Tuesday afternoon at the CHC Tennis Courts.
The Griffins improve to 11-6 overall and 3-3 in Central Atlantic Collegiate conference matches.
Opening the match with doubles play, Chestnut Hill won two of the three matches to secure the doubles point.Â
Noah Cutting and
Antonio Franquis were 6-1 winners over Gustavo Kerber and Josh Cronje and
Joao Sousa and
Tiago Lima earned a 6-2 win over Cooper Smith and Niklas Langenfeld at #3 doubles to give the Griffins a 1-0 lead.
Post tied the match at 1-1 as James Vincent defeated Cutting 6-3, 6-3 at #1 singles and took a 2-1 lead as Cronje defeated
Tobi Michel, 6-2, 6-2 and #6 singles.Â
Lima tied the match at 2-2 with a win over Smith at #3 singles 6-3, 6-2 and Franquis earned a straight set win 6-4, 6-1 over Langenfeld at #4 singles to give the Griffins a 3-2 lead. Sousa then clinched the win with a 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 6-4 win over Anton Anderson at #5 singles.
Tom Pitchley gave the Griffins their final point, battling through three sets for a 7-6 (12-10), 3-6, 7-6 (7-4) win over Kerber at #2 singles.
The men's tennis team returns to action on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, when they host Jefferson University at the CHC Tennis courts. First serve is set for 3:00 p.m.
