Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Kamagate Scores at Hat Trick and a Record Eight Points as the Griffins are Dominant in Conference Opener

Abdoulaye Kamagate scored his first career hat-trick and set a Griffins' record for points in a game as the Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team produced another dominant effort, defeating Bloomfield College 8-0 as they played their first home game of the season Saturday at victory field in Lafayette Hill.

The game was also the Griffins' first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game of the season as the team improves to 2-2-1 overall and 1-0 in league play.  The Bears drop to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in league contests.

Kamagate opened the scoring with his first goal at the 16:27 mark with an assist from David Cortez.  The redshirt freshman scored again in the 51st minute with Terrence Doe assisting, giving the Griffins a 5-0 lead and in the 59th minute the Cortez to Kamagate combo connected again to complete the hat trick and give the Griffins a 7-0 lead. He (Kamagate) also added two assists in the game to give him eight points for the afternoon. Kamagate's eight points breaks the old school record of seven set back in 2006 by Andrew Thorne and equaled by Yannick Wallace.   Doe scored the Griffins' fourth goal with Kamagate assisting just 1:06 into the second half and the redshirt freshman also assisted on Juan Ortiz' second goal of the game in the 53rd minute.

Diego Cabrera and  Ortiz scored in the first half as the Griffins jumped out to a 3-0 lead before exploding for five goals in the second half of the game.  Cortez had the second of his three assists on the afternoon on Cabrera's goal while Juan Molina assisted on Ortiz' goal.

Molina scored the Griffins' final goal of the game, an unassisted tally in the 76th minute.

Chestnut Hill outshot Bloomfield 27-11 (18-4 on goal) and produced nine corner kicks to the Bears' two.

Eran Shifris and Bryce Fadako combined for the shutout with Shifris recording one save and Fadako three.

The Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team returns to conference play on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, with a game at Jefferson University.  Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
