The Chestnut Hill College Men's Tennis team competed at the St. Joseph's University Invitational on Friday with the first day's matches coming agains the host Hawks.
The Hawks took eight of the nine matches played with the Griffins' lone victory coming in doubles play as
Filippo Relecom and
Pedro Vicente defeating Justus Agbo and Ernesto Ruy, 7-5.
Relecom went on to lose his singles match 7-5, 6-0 to John Butler while Vicente was shut out by Ruy, 6-0, 6-0 in his singles match.
Siddharth Malik took Eli Gan-Dy to a tiebreaker in his singles match before losing 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 1-0 (10-8). Malik and
Marcello Bozzone also had a close doubles match, falling to Butler and Othman Bezzaz, 7-5.
Bozzone also dropped his singles match, 6-2, 6-1 to Agbo.Â
Arnaud Vangenechten dropped his singles match to Bezzaz 6-2, 6-2 while
Devin Horsten fell to Mark Rubin 6-2, 6-3. Horsten and Vangenechten lost their doubles match, 6-2 to Gan-Dy and Rubin.
Competition at the Invitational was cancelled on Saturday and Sunday with no matches being rescheduled due to the weather.
