Box Score Tiago Lima battled through and won a three-set match to lift the Chestnut Hill College Men's Tennis team to a 4-3 won over division I Loyola University at the McClure Tennis Complex in Baltimore Maryland on Sunday afternoon.
The Griffins improve to 2-0 on the season. The Greyhounds fall to 1-2 with the loss.
Lima's match at #5 singles against Ryan Boland was the longest of the day and the only one to go a full three sets. Boland took the first set, 6-3 while Lima captured the second set 6-3 to force the third set.  Lima dominated the third set, winning 6-1 to clinch the match for the Griffins ,3-6, 6-3, 6-1.
For Lima it was his second win of the day as he teamed up with
Joao Sousa to record Chestnut Hill's only doubles win 6-2 as the Greyhounds took a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
Sousa also recorded two wins on the day, winning his #6 singles match 6-4, 6-3 over Dylan Kozial.Â
Antonio Franquis was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over Nick Haggar at #3 singles and
Noah Cutting rounded out the singles winners with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 win over Matt Cardano at #1 singles.
The Men's tennis team returns to action on March 7, 2024 when they travel to Garden City, New York to take on Adelphi University. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
