Assumption University scored two first half goals as they handed the Chestnut Hill college women's soccer team their second loss of the season, defeating the Griffins 3-0 Wednesday afternoon in Worcester, Massachusetts.
The Griffins fall to 2-2-1 with the loss while the Greyhounds improve to 2-1-4.
The Greyhounds had first half goals from Chelsea Hoey and Kate Carlson as they took a 2-0 lead at halftime. Assumption then added a third score in the 64
th minute to create the final 3-0 margin.
Chestnut Hill had four shots on goal in the first half and added one in the second.Â
Elisabeth Stokes and
Alyssa DeGeorge had two shots on goal apiece with
Payton Lennon producing the remaining shot on net.Â
Ellie Stratz had seven saves in goal for Chestnut Hill.
For the game, Assumption outshot the Griffins 25-10 (10-5 on target) while the Griffins had a slight edge in corner kicks 5-4.
The Chestnut Hill College women's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, September 30, 2023, when they face defending CACC champions, the University of Bridgeport, in a 1 p.m. contest at the CHC athletic field on campus.
