The Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team opened their season in grand style Friday afternoon, sweeping host Shippensburg University 7-0 at SU's Robb Sports Complex.
The match was the first match for both teams. The Chestnut Hill win was also the first for new head coach
Bruce Konyak.
The Griffins started things off with a sweep of the three doubles matches as the team dropped only one game in the series. Â CHC's doubles team of junior

Nele Haag, fresh off their stellar 2023 season where they went 16-6 together in doubles play, scored a 6-0 win over Brooklynn Rupert and Ali Zapach at #1 doubles to start the ball rolling.Â
Seniors
Annika Wise and
Lottie Allin followed with a 6-1 win over Corrinne Markovich and Rachel Gallagher at #3 doubles and junior
Romi Meirovich and sophomore
Claudia Rasilla completed the sweep with a 6-0 win at #2 doubles over Brighid Cantwell and Brinley Orris.
Meirovich then record a 6-0, 6-0 win at #5 singles to give the Griffins a 2-0 lead in the match. Wise followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Gallagher at #4 singles and Isaac clinched the match win with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Markovich at #1 singles.
Rasilla made the score 5-0 in favor of the Griffins with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Rupert at #3 singles while Haag scored a 6-0, 6-1 win at #2 singles over Zapach.Â
Elena Arenas Guisasola, making her collegiate debut, Â capped off the sweep with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Kendall Winters at #6 singles.Â
The Chestnut Hill Women's Tennis team is back in action on Saturday, September 9, 2023 when they travel to face Kutztown University. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m.
