Women's Soccer Team Records Dominant win over Lincoln

The Chestnut Hill College Women's soccer team got back on the winning track Tuesday night with a dominant 3-1 win over Lincoln University at Victory Field in Lafayette Hill.

The Griffins improve to 2-5-1 overall  with the win and 2-3 in Central Atlantic collegiate conference games.  Lincoln falls to 0-5 in league play and 3-6 overall.

Chestnut Hill got off 27 shots on the night (seven on net) while holding the Lions to just six total shots (three on net).

Lauren Sullivan put the Griffins on the board with the first of her two goals in the 31st minute, taking a pass from Abby Galazka and firing the ball past Lions' goalkeeper Ariel Reyes. The Galazka-Sullivan combination struck again in the 37th minute giving the Griffins a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

Griffins' goalkeeper, Ellie Stratz had two first half saves.

For much of the second half, play remained in the offensive end for the Griffins as they tallied 14 total shots in the half and held the Lions to just one.  Lorenza D'Andrea recorded her first collegiate goal in the 87th minute to put Chestnut Hill ahead 3-0 with Anna Sanverdine amd Kaya Mobley getting the assists.

Lincoln struck for their only goal of the game 48 seconds later on a goal from Grace Quiah.

For the game, Sullivan led the Griffins with four shots on goal.  Virginia Perry added two and D'Andrea one.  Nine different players had at least one shot in the match.

The women's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, October 12, 2024, when they host Dominican University at Victory Field.  Kickoff is set for 11:00 a.m.
