The Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team won their third straight game, defeating Washington Adventist University 2-0 Tuesday afternoon in Takoma Park Maryland.
The Griffins improve to 3-5-4 overall while the Shock fall to 3-3-3.
Chestnut Hill wasted little time getting on the board, as Terrence Doe fired a shot into the net past WAU goalkeeper Gregorio Capponi just 8:38 into the game. Dane Bodziak assisted on the Doe goal.
Meanwhile, the Griffin defense held the Shock to just one shot on goal in the first half.
Jose Cuadra gave the Griffins an insurance goal in the 53rd minute, taking a pass from Santi Linares and getting a shot passed Capponi for a 2-0 CHC lead.
The Shock peppered Griffin goalkeeper Rodrigo Artiga in the second half with eight shots on goal with the junior netminder stopping all of them. Artiga finished the game with nine saves while recording his league leading fifth shutout of the season.
In addition to the two Griffin goals, Jimmy Paz also had two shots on goal for the Griffins who were outshot 9-4 on net and 16-5 overall. Â
The men's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, October 19, 2024, when they travel to face the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
