The Chestnut Hill college Men's Soccer team struggled both offensively and defensively as Caldwell University handed the Griffins a 7-0 defeat on Saturday afternoon at victory field in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.
The Griffins fall to 3-7-5 overall and 1-5-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. Caldwell improves to 7-3-3 overall and 6-1-1 in league play.
The Cougars set the tone for the game, scoring just 32 seconds after the opening kick, taking the early 1-0 lead. Caldwell went on to score four more times before the half ended, taking a 5-0 lead.
Caldwell added two more goals in the second half to complete the scoring. Hugo Thell scored twice for Cougars, joining five other teammates who scored a goal.
Griffin goalkeeper Rodrigo Artiga faced seven shots on goal in the first half while Connor McGrogan, who took over the netminding duties in the second half, also faced seven shots on net. Artiga finished with two saves while McGrogan notched five.
Santi Linares had two of the Griffins' three shots on goal for the game while Jimmy Paz tallied the other.
The men's soccer team returns to action on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, when they travel to face Holy Family University. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
