Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Caporellie Becomes All-Time Assist Leader but Griffins Fall to Post

Mia Caporellie added another record to stellar resume as a member of the Chestnut Hill College Women's Volleyball team on Sunday, becoming the Griffins' all-time assist leader  but the Griffins fell short on the scoreboard as Post University handed the Griffins their first home loss of the season, 3-2 Sunday afternoon at Sorgenti Arena.

The Griffins fall to 13-7 overall and 7-4 in ventral Atlantic Collegiate conference games  while Post improved to 14-8 overall and 9-1 in league play.

Caporellie entered the game needing three assists to break Kennedy Sutton's mark of 3,522 set back in 2018.   The senior setter assisted on Maya Hopson's kill for the Griffin's seventh point in the first set to set the record.  Caporellie added 43 more before the match ended and her total now stands at 3,566 and counting.

The Griffins dropped that first set 25-22 and lost the second set 25-18, putting themselves in a 2-0 hole for the second consecutive match.   Chestnut Hill then won the next two sets 27-25 and 25-18 to even the match at 2-2 but ran out of gas in the fifth set, losing 15-7 as the Eagles took the match.

Offensively, Rachel Mace led the Griffins with 19 kills and 24 digs, recording her tenth double-double of the season.  Erika Dubosky had 14 kills and 17 digs for her ninth double-double.  Caporellie also recorded a double-double with 12 digs to go along with her 46 assists for her tenth double-double of the season and 48th of her career, the most in program history.

Hopson finished the match with three blocks to lead the Griffins while Angela April added two.  Alexandra Crespin and Pamela Uceta added 15 and 14 digs respectively while Lilian Bandel recorded a career-high six digs.

The women's volleyball team returns to action on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 when they host Georgian Court University at Sorgenti Arena.  First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
