The Chestnut Hill College Men's Basketball team dropped their second consecutive game Wednesday afternoon, falling to West Chester University 74-52 at Hollinger field House in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
The Griffins fall to 2-4 with the loss while the Golden Rams improved to 5-2.
Omari Salvi led the Griffins with 11 points.  IV Pettit and Alejandro Redondo Cybak added nine points apiece. Landon Shivers chipped in eight points and had ten rebounds to lead all players. Noah Charles and Pettit had three assists apiece while Lucas Dunn recorded four steals.
The Griffins fell behind early but stayed within striking distance, using a 10-2 run to take a 12-10 lead with 12 minutes left in the first half. Cybak scored six of his nine points during the run. The lead was short lived as the Golden Rams countered with a 13-3 run to take an eight point lead, 23-15. Chestnut Hill clawed their way back as the half progressed, pulling within four 27-23 by halftime.
A 15-7 run by the golden Rams in the opening 5:13 of the second half, increased the host's lead to 12, 42-30. A three point basket from Pettit closed the gap to nine but another run by West Chester, a 12-3 spurt pushed their lead to 18, 54-36 with 10:11 remaining. The Griffins would get no closer than 13 the rest of the way, with a layup from Travis Reed, Jr. at the 6:30 mark making the score 57-44. West Chester finished the game with a 17-8 run.
Elijah Allen, Davante Dennis and Joshua Walker led West Chester with 12 points apiece.
For the game, the Golden Rams shots 46% (29-63) from the field while the Griffins shot 29.5% (18-61).   The Griffins made one more three point basket (5-30 to WCU's 4-16) while West Chester made one more free throw (12-18 to CHC's 11-14). The Golden Rams also held a 46-34 rebounding advantage.
The men's basketball team returns to action on December 3, 2024, with a game at Mercy University in Dobbs Ferry, New York. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
