The Chestnut Hill College Men's Tennis team won their second consecutive match this week, cruising to an 8-1 win over host Muhlenberg University Saturday afternoon at Muhlenberg's Kern Tennis Courts.
The Griffins improve to 4-1 on the season. Muhlenberg falls to 4-4.
Chestnut Hill quickly jumped out to a 2-0 lead winning at #1 and #3 doubles.
Noah Cutting and
Antonio Franquis beat Owen Dyer and Matt Miller 8-3 at #1 doubles while Joao
Sousa and
Tiago Lima earned an 8-1 win over Gabriel Tamarkin and Josh Simon at #3 doubles. Muhlenberg won the #2 doubles match, giving the Griffins a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.
The Griffins proceeded to sweep all six singles matches to finalize the decisive 8-1 win. Lima, Sousa and Franquis all won their respective singles matches to become double-winners on the afternoon. Lima scored a shutout win over Miller at #2 singles, 6-0, 6-0 while Sousa defeated William Rose 6-1, 6-2 at #4 singles. Franquis defeated Dyer at #1 singles, 6-2, 6-1.
Arnaud Vangenechten earned a 6-1, 6-2 win over Harrison Neff at #3 singles while
Menno Raemaekers was a 6-1, 6-1 victor over Simon at #5 singles.
Filippo Relecom completed the sweep winning 6-2, 6-0 at #6 singles.
The men's tennis team returns home with a match against Millersville University on March 21, 2024. First serve is set for 2:00 PM
