Bowling Team Earns a Split on first Day of CACC Bowling Championship Tournament

The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Bowling Championship competition began Friday morning at Pike Lanes in Southampton Pennsylvania with chestnut Hill College, the #4 seed taking on the #5 seed, Bloomfield college in a single elimination mega-match. 

The Griffins swept their match with the Bears 2-0 and advanced to bowl against the conference's top seed Caldwell University later in the afternoon.  The Cougars won a tightly contested match 2-0.

Chestnut Hill opened the day with a 968-727 traditional format win over the Bears.  Chase Clifford bowled a career high 255 to lead the Griffins.  Kayleina McGonigal and Jess Hollabaugh bowled 197 and 191 respectively.

Leading the mega-match, 1-0, The Griffins went on to complete the sweep with an 840-773 win in the Baker format match.  Clifford led the team, filling eight of ten frames while McGonigal and Eryn Moore filled seven of ten apiece.

In the match against the top-seeded Cougars, Moore bowled a 205 in the traditional format portion of the contest, but the Griffins were narrowly defeated 883-873.  Jess Hollabaugh and McGonigal bowled 177 and 176 respectively.  The cougars completed a 2-0 sweep of the match with an 868-852 win in baker format play.  Moore filled nine of ten frames while Hollabaugh filled eight of ten.

Clifford had the high traditional average on the day, with an average score of 206 and also led the team in filled frames bowled for all games bowled, filling 32 of 40 (80%).

The Griffins will begin day 2 of the CACC bowling Championship with an elimination match against Felician University at 8:30 AM
