Michael Pascoe hit his third home run of the season, but the Chestnut Hill College baseball team was swept by Holy Family University 10-9 and 6-2 in a doubleheader at Hostelley Field in North Wales, Friday afternoon.
The games, originally scheduled for Saturday, were moved from Holy Family's home field (Ramp Athletic Complex) due to weather concerns. The Tigers served as the home team for the doubleheader.
The Griffins fall to 6-14 overall and 0-3 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games with the two losses  Holy Family evens their record at 11-11 and improves to 3-0 in league play.
Pascoe drove in three runs in the opener while
Phoenix Bowman had four hits and an RBI.Â
Justin Geiger had a double and two RBI in the game. Â
Marlon Rose took the loss giving up a home run in the ninth inning.
The Tigers jumped out to a 6-1 lead after three innings. Bowman's double in the fourth brought home CHC's second run and the Griffins added another in the same inning on a throwing error to make the score 6-3.
Dan Ciotti singled in the fourth to pull the Griffins within two before Pascoe tied the game with a two-run home run in the top half of the seventh. Four batters later,
Alex Fascia's infield groundout brought home
Calvin McCall to give Chestnut Hill their first lead of the game 7-6.
Home runs by HFU's Zach Morales and Jon Martinez in the bottom of the seventh put the Tgiers back on top 9-7 before Geiger's two-run double in the top of the eighth tied the game at 9-9.
Rose came in to pitch in the bottom of the eighth and held the Tigers scoreless in the eighth and got the first two batters out in the ninth before Morales launched his second home run of the game to right field to give the Tigers a walkoff win, 10-9.
In game two, the Griffins had just two hits as the Tigers scored six times in the sixth inning to secure a 6-2 win.
John Crane scored the Griffins' first run after getting hit with a pitch in the second inning and coming around to cross the plate after
Christian Peluso's infield groundout.
Crane doubled in the fourth inning and was replaced on the base paths by McCall. After moving to third on a sac bunt from Bowman, McCall scored on Peluso's infield ground out, giving the sophomore catcher his second RBI of the day and a 2-0 CHC lead.
Griffins' starter
Dylan Broderick loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the sixth. He then gave up a two-run double to Devin Turner to tie the game. The Tigers took the lead when a wild pitch from Broderick allowed another run to score. Two more Tiger hits plated three more runs and the Tigers had a 6-2 lead.
Tiger pitcher Casey Murphy retired the Griffins in order in the seventh to earn the complete game win. Broderick took the loss for the Griffins, pitching 5.1 innings and allowing five runs on six hits while striking out nine.

The baseball team returns to action on Monday, March 25, 2024, for a doubleheader at Hostelley field against the University of Bridgeport. The doubleheader was originally scheduled for Sunday but was moved due to field conditions following the weekend storm. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.Â
