Returning to conference action on Sunday, the Chestnut Hill College Women's softball team was swept by host Bloomfield College as the two teams played a pair of games at Clark's Pond south in Bloomfield New Jersey.
The Bears won the first game 13-3 and then proceeded to take the second 8-0 with both games ending after five innings. The Griffins are now 1-13 overall and 0-6 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. Bloomfield improves to 7-11 overall and 4-2 in league play.
Camille Dunham and
Mianna Lopez DelHaro had two hits apiece in the opener with DelHaro driving in two of the three runs.Â
Jazmine Ramirez recorded CHC's other RBI.
  Michelle Baker took the loss, allowing 13 hits and ten earned runs while striking out three in four innings pitched.
A sacrifice bunt from Ramirez in the second inning brought home
Amaris Guzman with the first Griffins' run, cutting the Bloomfield lead to 3-1. The Bears however sent 11 batters to the plate in the bottom of the second inning, producing seven runs, highlighted by a Jocelyn Moody grand slam home run to take a 10-1 lead.
The Bears scored three more times in the fourth inning before the Griffins plated two in their final at-bat. Lopez DelHaro delivered a double to centerfield to score Dunham and
Maya Preston to make the final score 13-3.
Moody earned the win for the Bears.
In game two, Bloomfield pitcher Danielle Walters held the Griffins to just one hit as the Bears scored eight times over the first three innings to secure the 8-0 run-rule win.Â
Skyler Cunningham had the Griffins lone hit, a single in the second inning.Â
Gabriella Quinones took the loss.
The women's softball team returns to action on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, when they host Goldey-Beacom college in a CACC doubleheader. Fist pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
