Softball Drops First Game Against Goldey-Beacom: Game Two Postponed

Rainy weather did not keep the Chestnut Hill College Women's Softball team from getting in one of their two games against Goldey-Beacom College Wednesday afternoon as the Lightning came away with a rain-shortened 4-0 victory in five innings at the CHC Softball Field.

The rain forced the postponement of game two.  It will be made up on Monday, April 1, 2024, with a 3:00 p.m. start time at the CHC Softball Field.

Chestnut Hill drops to 1-14 overall with the loss and 0-7 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games.

Michelle Baker took the loss, tossing the first two innings and allowing two runs on five hits.  Jordan Tavarez made her season debut and pitched the final three innings, allowing two unearned runs on three hits.

Skyler Cunningham and Mianna Lopez DelHaro both recorded a hit to account for CHC's two hits in the contest.  Cunningham's was a leadoff single in the second while Lopez DelHaro's was a one-out single in the fourth.

Erika Kwasek started behind the plate for the Griffins a threw out a Lightning runner trying to steal in the third inning, marking the first time an opposing runner was thrown out trying to stela this season.

The Lightning strung together four hits to produce two runs in their first at-bat off Baker.  Two infield errors in the third led to two unearned runs, giving GBC a 4-0 lead.  The Griffins escaped further damage when Kwasek threw out Davi Jimenez to end the inning.

The Griffins will return to action on April 1 for the make-up game against the Lightning.  First pitch is at 3:00 PM
