The Chestnut Hill College men's tennis team struggled in their contest Thursday at regional powerhouse Adelphi University, getting swept by the Panthers 7-0 at the Point Set Racquet Club in Oceanside, New York.
The Griffins suffered their first loss of the season to the Panthers and drop to 2-1 on the season while the Panthers improve to 5-2.
The Griffins lost two doubles matches to start the match off with
Joao Sousa and
Tiago Lima falling at #2 doubles and
Filippo Relecom and
Menno Raemaekers dropping their match at #3 doubles.
Adelphi went on to sweep the doubles matches to complete the 7-0 shutout. Lima's match at #4 singles and
Noah Cutting's match at #1 singles both went three sets. Lima lost to Hugo Reinoso 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 while Cutting fell to Marko Jovanovic 4-6, 6-0, 7-5.
The men's tennis team returns to action on Monday March 11, 2024, when they host Indiana university East in their home opener. First serve is set for 2 pm.
