Playing in the second conference match in two days, the Chestnut Hill struggled against defending conference champion Jefferson University losing to the Ramns for the second time this season, 6-1 at Jefferson's Abraham J. Salaman Tennis courts.
The Griffins fall to 6-5 overall and 2-3 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. The Rams improve to 12-4 overall and 5-0 in league play.
The Griffin's lone point in the match came at #2 singles where
Antonio Franquis defeated Mario Antonio, 6-3, 7-5. Chestnut Hill's #2 doubles team of
Joao Sousa and
Siddharth Malik won their match 7-6 but the Rams took the doubles point by virtue of winning at #1 and #3 doubles.
After winning the doubles point, the Rams won the next four singles matches before Franquis earned his singles win, making the score 5-1 at the time. Sousa ended the match with a three-set loss, 6-1, 4-6, 6-7 (4-7).
The men's tennis team returns to action on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 when they host University of the District of Columbia. First serve I set for 2:00 p.m.
