The Chestnut Hill College Men's Tennis team played their third match in three day on Wednesday and put one in the win column, defeating regional foe University of the district of Columbia 4-3 at the CHC Tennis courts.
The Griffins snap a two-match losing sgreak as their record improves to 7-5 with the win while the firebirds fall to 10-7.
Chestnut Hill earned the first point of the match by winning two of the three doubles contests.Â
Noah Cutting and
Antonio Franquis started things off with a 6-2 win over Louis Mangeon and Louka Queguiner at #1 doubles.  UDC won at #2 doubles before CHC's #3 doubles team of
Pedro Vicente and
Arnaud Vangenechten won a hard fought 7-5 match to give the Griffins a 1-0 lead.
Franquis put the Griffins up 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-1 win at #2 singles over Queguiner and Cutting made it 3-0, defeating Mangeon 7-5, 6-1 at #1 doubles.Â
Joao Sousa clinched the match for the Griffins with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Antonio Simo Durell at#3 singles to make the score 4-0.
The Firebirds won the final three matches at #4, #5 and #6 singles to make the final score 4-3.
The men's tennis team returns to action on Saturday, April 13, 2024 when they host Post University at the CHC Tennis Courts. First serve is set for 12:00 p.m.
