The Chestnut Hill College Softball team played a rare single game on Tuesday as they made up the second game of their doubleheader against Goldey-Beacom college which was rained out on March 27. The Lightning took advantage of four Griffin errors during the game to complete the series sweep with a 6-1 win.
The Griffins fall to 1-19 overall and 0-12 in Central Atlantic Collegiate conference games. The Lightning improve to 7-3 in league play and 17-21 overall.
Chestnut Hill had just three hits in the game with
Anastasia Watson scoring CHC's lone run.
Camille Dunham had the only extra base hit, a double to lead off the first inning.
Gabriella Quinones took the loss allowing just one earned run and six hits while striking out two.
It was the Griffins getting on the board first as Watson drew a one-out walk and
Maya Kemper was hit by a pitch.
Erika Kwasek hit a groundout to the right side to move both runners into scoring position. Watson then scored on a wild pitch to give the Griffins a 1-0 lead.
The Lightning scored four times in their next at-bat as the Griffins committed a pair of infield errors following a leadoff single by the Lightning. Quinones got out of the inning inducing a pair of ground outs to prevent any further damage.
A throwing error in the sixth inning led to two more lightning runs for a 6-1 Goldey-Beacom lead. Neither team scored over the final inning as the Lightning secured the sweep.
The softball team returns to action on Wednesday, April 10 when they travel to Connecticut to face Post University for a CACC doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
