After two consecutive losses, the Chestnut Hill College men's Tennis team got back on the winning track, defeating Dominican University of New York, 5-2 to earn their second conference win of the season.
The Griffins improve to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. The Chargers fall to 1-3 overall and 0-3 in league play.
Opening the day with doubles play, the Griffins won the first two matches to secure the doubles point. Â
Noah Cutting and
Antonio Franquis cruised to a 6-1 win over Ander Canter Sadaba and John Bruno at #1 doubles.Â
Siddharth Malik and
Arnaud Vangenechten then clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Qalib Ladhani and Leonard Fleisch 6-3 at #3 doubles.
Joao Sousa gave the Griffins a 2-0 lead with an impressive 6-0, 6-1 win over Ladhani and Cutting made it 3-0 in favor of the Griffins defeating Jorge Catala 6-2, 6-2 at the #1 singles slot. Franquis then clinched the match for Chestnut Hill with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Ali Zizi at #2 singles.
The Chargers won at #4 and #5 singles to make the score 4-2.Â
Marcello Bozzone then closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Bruno at #6 singles.
The men's tennis team returns to action on Monday April 8, 2024 when they travel to face Post University for a match originally scheduled for April 2. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
