eThe Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer Team lost their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener Wednesday night as Wilmington University came away with a 3-1 win at victory field in Lafayette Hill.
The Griffins fall to 0-2-2 on the season and 0-1 in league play. Wilmington improves to 1-3-1 overall and 1-0 in league play.
The Griffins got on the board early taking as Terrence Doe found the back of the net at the 12:34 mark of the first period with Diego Cruz lending the assist on the play.
The Wildcats tied the game up nine minutes later as Theo Faillon scored the first of his two goals on the night.Â
The score remained deadlocked at 1-1 until late in the second half. Already playing a man-down due to a red card, the Griffins committed a foul inside the box resulting in a penalty kick, successfully executed by Faillon to give the wildcats a 2-1 lead in the 72nd minute.
An own goal off a Chestnut Hill player in the 81st minute made the final score 3-1.
Rodrigo Artiga made ten saves in goal for the Griffins. His counterpart on the wildcats, Charlie Phillips had three.  Wilmington outshot Chestnut Hill 17-8 for the game (14-4 on net)
The men's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, September 21, 2024 when they travel to face Bloomfield College in Bloomfield New Jersey. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
