Goldey-Beacom College scored three goals in the second half as they handed the Chestnut Hill College Men's soccer team their third loss of the season, 3-0 Tuesday afternoon at NCS Field in Wilmington, Delaware.
The Griffins fall to 0-3-3 overall and 0-2-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. The Lightning improve to 3-4 overall and 2-0 in league play.
The Lightning and Griffins were scoreless throughout the first half and the early part of the second half when Goldey-Beacom got on the board in the 65th minute, taking a 1-0 lead. The hosts added two insurance goals later in the period to come away with the 3-0 win.
Griffin goalkeeper Rodrigo Artiga made seven saves as the Lightning placed ten of their 25 shots on goal. GBC outshot Chestnut Hill 25-5  (10-2) on net. Andres Felipe Gomez had two of the Griffins five shots, including a shot on goal at the 9:22 mark of the first half. Riccardo Italiano had the other shot on goal  in the 22nd minute.
The men's soccer team returns to action for a non-league contest at Queens college of Thursday, September 26, 2024. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
