The Chestnut Hill College Sprint Football team dropped their first contest of the season, falling 35-0 at Army -West Point Friday night at Shea Stadium in West Point, New York.
The Griffins fall to 1-1 on the season. Army is now 1-0.
Xavier Limehouse and Anthony Cancellare led the Griffins' running game with 55 and 53 yards respectively. Cancellare also completed eight passes on the night for 73 yards. Xavier Hendricks and Anthony Droege had two catches apiece.
On the defensive side Trevon Hodnett led the team with nine tackles while Lex Williams added seven. Jonathan Havrilak and Cam Goldsmith each recorded a sack.
Army scored on their first two possessions to quickly jump out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Army quarterback Kyle West threw two touchdown passes in the second quarter, increasing the Black Knights' lead to 28-0 by halftime.  He added another TD toss  in the third to finish the game for Army's final points and finished the game with four touchdown passes  and 223 yards in the air.
The Black Knights racked up 422 yard of total offense for the game while the Griffins had 229.
The sprint football team returns to action on Saturday, October 5, 2024, when they host Cornell University at A.A. Garthwaite Field. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
