Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Griffins Survive Scare From Winless Trojans for Fifth Win of Season

Abdoulaye Kamagate scored twice, and Robert Keegan added his first collegiate goal as the Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team survived a scare from winless Virginia State University earning a 3-2 victory over the trojans Saturday afternoon at victory field in Lafayette Hill.

The Griffins improve to 5-4-1 overall while the Trojans drop to 0-6.  Chestnut Hill's five wins equals the most by the team since the 2019 season when the team went 5-9-3.

After a scoreless first half which saw the Griffins hold the Trojans to zero shots on goal and just four shots total, both offenses came alive.  VSU started the scoring in the 48th minute on their first shot on goal of the game as Dan Savaile-Gborie put a shot past CHC goalkeeper Max bond

Kamagate got the equalizer in the 70th minute with Keegan providing the assist on the play.  Keegan himself added a go-ahead goal in the 82nd minute, taking a long pass from Andres Gomez and knocking a shot past VSU goalkeeper Sean Roach.

The Griffins 2-1 lead was short-lived as VSU's Sebastine Daniel got past the Griffin defense and one-timed a shot past bond to tie the game just 42 seconds after Keegan's goal.

The game-winner for the Griffins came in the 85th minute when Popalzai Zazai launched a cross in front of the net and Kamagate put the ball behind Roach for his second goal of the game and a 3-2 Griffins lead.

For the game, Chestnut Hill outshot Virginia State 23-12 (14-4 on net).  Mohamed Bility had four shots on goal while Kamagate added three and Luke Bodziak two.   Bond had two saves while playing the second half and earned his third win of the season.

The men's soccer team returns to action with a game against Holy Family University on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Victory Field.  Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
