Griffins Rally to Forge Tie with Purple Knights

In their final regular season home contest, the Chestnut Hill College Women's Soccer team forged a 1-1 tie with the University of Bridgeport Saturday afternoon at Victory Field in Lafayette Hill.

The Griffins are now 8-6-1 overall and 8-1-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games.  Bridgeport's record is now 3-8-5 overall and 3-5-2 in league play.

Rebecca Dalton scored the tying goal for the Griffins in the 61st minute, taking a long pass from Virginia Perry and putting it past UB goalkeeper Marit Blom for her eighth goal of the season.

Bridgeport got their only score as the result of an own goal with 1:46 left in the first half.

Ellie Stratz made six saves in net for the Griffins.

The Griffins finished the game with seven shots on goal, with Dalton, Lauren Sullivan and Abby Collins recording two apiece and Kylee Bamberger notching one.

For the game, The Griffins had a slight edge in shots 14-13 (7-7 on net).  Both teams had one corner kick apiece.

The women's soccer team will travel to face first place Jefferson University for the final regular season home game on Tuesday, November 4. The CACC playoffs start on Saturday November 8 with the Griffins hosting a home contest against an opponent yet to be determined.
