The Chestnut Hill College Men's Tennis team played their first of three matches against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference rival Jefferson University Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Rams 6-1 at the Legacy Tennis Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The Griffins fall to 3-7 overall and 0-1 in CACC matches. The Rams improve to 6-5 overall and 1-0 in league play.
The Rams gained the early advantage with a sweep in the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead.
In singles play, Filippo Relecom dropped his match to Anthony Moukarzel at #2 singles 6-0, 6-2 and Enzo Puppi lost at #5 singles, 6-1, 6-3 to E. Soto Ballester to give the Rams a 3-0 lead. Johary Rabetrano defeated Menno Raeymaekers 6-1, 6-4 at #6 singles to clinch the match for the Rams.
Jefferson also secured wins at #3 and #4 singles before Pablo Cervera scored the Griffins lone point, defeating Mario Antonio, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 at #1 singles.
The men's tennis team will play Jefferson for the second time on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the CHC Tennis Courts. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
