The Chestnut Hill College Men's Tennis team had their first official match of the spring season Saturday afternoon, dropping a 6-1 decision to Adelphi University at the Point Set Indoor Racquet Club in Oceanside New York.
Th Griffins fall to2-5 with the loss while the Panthers improve to 6-2.
Adelphi won their first two double matches to an early 1-0lead in the contest. CHC's #1 doubles team of Ewan Brown and Pablo Cervera prevented a sweep of the doubles with a 7-5 win over Marko Jovanovic and Andrea Albeiro at #1 doubles.
In singles competition, the Panthers captured the #5, #4 and #1 singles matches to take a 4-0 lead and clinch the match. Alessio Lefevre got the Griffins on the board with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Albeiro at #3 singles, making the score 4-1. Adelphi proceeded to win the remaining two singles contests, earning a straight set win at #6 singles while the #2 singles match between Filippo Relecom and AU's Louca Bertone went to a tiebreaker with Bertone coming out on top 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (11-9), making the final score 6-1.
The men's tennis team returns to action on Thursday, March 13, 2025, when they travel to face the University of District of Columbia in Washington, D.C. First serve is at noon.
