The Chestnut Hill Men's Tennis team dropped their second consecutive spring match, falling to the University of the District of Columbia Thursday afternoon, 5-2 in Washington, D.C.
The Griffins fall to 2-6 with the loss.
Opening the day with doubles play, the Firebirds won at #2 doubles before the Griffins captured the remaining two matches to capture the doubles point. Siddharth Malik and Alessio Lefevre defeated Oskar Karos and Filippo Vatteroni 6-4 at number three doubles followed by Pablo Cervera and Ewan Brown besting Louis Mangeon and Louka Queguiner, 6-4 at #1 doubles.
The Firebirds tied the match at 1-1 with a win at #3 singles as Fillipo Relecom lost to Karos in straight sets (6-7 (1-6), 3-6). Queguiner then defeated Lefevre 6-1, 6-3 at #2 singles and Mangeon defeated Cervera 0-6, 7-6 (11-9), 6-1 at #2 singles to push UDC's lead to 3-1. UDC then clinched the match with wins at #4 and #5 singles. Enzo Puppi scored the Griffins lone singles point with a win over Vatteroni, 6-3, 6-1 at#6 singles.
The men's tennis team returns to action on March 26, 2025, with the first of three matches against Jefferson University playing at TJU's courts. First serve is at 2:00 p.m.
