Griffins Drop Road Contest to bobcats

The Chestnut Hill College Men's Tennis team dropped the first of their two matches in West Virginia on Saturday, falling to West Virginia Wesleyan College 7-0 in Buckhannon, West Virginia.

The Griffins fall to 3-10 overall while the Bobcats improve to 8-5.

In doubles play, the Griffins' #1 doubles team of Ewan Brown and Pablo Cervera  earned a 6-4 win over Nicola Bottelberghs and Jed Platts to even the doubles matches at 1-1 at the time.  Siddharth Malik and Alessio Lefevre then lost a hard-fought 7-5 contest to Takuya Kobayashi and Ayamu Seto at #3 doubles to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead in the match.

Menno Raeymaekers dropped his #6 singles match to Pedro Roeschel 6-1, 6-0 to make the score 2-0 and Filippo Relecom lost to Kobayashi and #1 singles, 6-0, 6-4, giving the bobcats a commanding 3-0 lead.

Matthis Blary then clinched the match for the Bobcats with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Arnaud Vangenechten at #4 singles.

Malik lost at #5 singles, 6-4, 6-4 to Platts and Bottelberghs beat Enzo Puppi at #3 singles, 6-3, 6-2.  Brown was the final finisher of the day, falling to Ricardo Starosta 6-2, 6-1 at #2 singles.

The men's tennis team returns to action on Sunday, April 13, 2025, when they play Davis and Elkins College at the wood Tennis Court on WVWC's campus.  First serve is set for 11:00 a.m.
