Griffins Earn Senior Day Win, Defeating Golden Falcons

The 2025 season finished on a high note for the Chestnut Hill College Women's Lacrosse team as they celebrated their senior players and earned a9-8 win over Felician University Saturday afternoon at Victory field in Lafayette Hill.

The Griffins conclude their season with a 3-8 overall record and a 3-6 mark in Central Atlantic collegiate conference play.  Felician concludes their season at 4-10 overall and 1-8 in league play.

Prior to the start of the contest, the athletics department and women's lacrosse team honored six senior players who were playing in the final game as Griffins.  Seniors Abby Galazka, Anna Sanverdine, Gladyeliz Hernandez, Elizabeth Deal, Molly Killion, and Erin McCarthy were an integral part of the program throughout their careers as Griffins  The ceremony recognized their accomplishments on their field as well as their success in the classroom as all six have received several academic honors over their seasons as Griffins.

Galazka, Deal and Killion all scored goals for the Griffins with Deal and Killion also assisting on one goal apiece. Kendall Gayton led all players with five goals and one assist.  Gayton also became the fifth player in program history to score four free positions goals in a game, tying a school record (one that Killion also equaled last season). Nicole George  accounted for the remaining CHC score.

Deal led all players with four caused turnovers while Galazka led the team with five ground balls while also recording three caused turnovers.  Deal and Killion also had four ground balls apiece while Gayton and Killion led the team with five draw controls apiece.  McCarthy had four saves in the net for the Griffins.

Gayton put the Griffins on the board with a free position goal just 63 seconds into the game.  The Golden Falcons then scored three unanswered goals in the first quarter to take a 3-1 lead.

The Gtriffins closed the gap to 3-2 with Gayton's second free position goal  at the 13:19 mark of the second quarter and after another Felician score Nicole George took a pass from Killion and did a twisting behind the back shot that the Golden Falcons goalkeeper has little chance of stopping, making the score 4-3.  Felician added another goal in the final minute of the quarter to lead 5-3at halftime.

The third quarter belonged to the Griffins as they scored five consecutive goals to take an 8-5 lead.  Deal tossed a pass to Gayton who fired into the net for the first score at the 10:15 mark.  Killion then notched a free-position goal with 4:55 left.  Forty seconds later, Gayton had her third free-position goal of the game and fourth overall putting the Griffins ahead 6-5.

Galazka followed with her fifth goal of the season, scoring less than a minute after Gayton who added another free position goal and her fifth of the game with 1:59 left to give the Griffins an 8-5 lead.

Deal tallied a man-up goal just 17 seconds into the fourth quarter to increase the griffins' lead to 9-5 with Gayton assisting on the play.  Felician scored the final three goals of the game, pulling within one 9-8 with 2:24 left.

The golden Falcons won the ensuing draw control and went a man-up following a Griffin yellow card with 2:12 left.  The visitors turned the ball over shortly thereafter and the Griffins were able to clear and kill off the penalty as Felician had 14 seconds left to take the ball the length of the field.  Following a Felician clear, Galazka knocked the ball out of the stick of the Felician attacker, for a caused turnover and picked up the ball as time expired, preserving the win.
