Isabelle Tetreault won her sixth game of the season as the Chestnut Hill College Softball team split a doubleheader with Georgian Court University Wednesday afternoon, winning the opener, 5-2 before dropping game two 10-0.
The game one win was only the Griffins' second against the Lions since the 2016 season. Chestnut Hill is now 12-22-1 overall with the split and 5-11 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games.
Tetreault pitched a complete game in the opener, allowing just two runs on nine hits while striking out three to improve to 6-2 on the season. She becomes the Griffins' first pitcher to win six or more games since Kaley Wise won a school record 11 in 2019.
Four different Chestnut Hill players had two hits apiece in the contest with Kayla Rolon hitting two doubles while Amaris Guzman, Anastasia Watson and Camille Dunham had two singles apiece.
Rolon's double in the first inning scored Christina Contreras to give the Griffins a 1-0 lead. Jenn Pokropinski drove in the Griffins' second run after hitting into a fielder's choice to score Watson.
Chestnut Hill added three more runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-1 lead. RBI singles from Watson and Skyler Cunningham scored the first two runs of the inning with Watson scoring on a passed ball for the Griffins' fifth run.
Georgian Court added a run in the sixth and Tetreault got out of a jam in the seventh, leaving two Lions on base to earn the win.
The Lions limited the Griffins to just four hits in game two as they score six times in the third inning en route to a 10-0 win.
Michelle Baker took the loss, allowing the first seven runs of the game to fall to 1-5 on the season. Contreras and Watson singled in the first inning, Michaela Yuricheck singled in the second and Guzman singled in the third to account for Chestnut Hill's four hits.
The softball team returns to action on Monday, April 14, 2025, when they travel to face bowie State University.
