Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Griffins Defeat Shepherd to Earn Second Consecutive Win

Mohammed Bility's goal in the 60th minute lifted the Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team to a 2-1 win over Shepherd University Saturday afternoon at Victory Field in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.

The Griffins improve to 2-2 on the season with the win.  Shepherd falls to 1-3.

"I am super grateful for our team's effort today and getting the result," said head coach Jesse Zafiritos.  "We are starting to put some good soccer together right before conference play starts."

Bility's goal broke a 1-1 tie just 14:34 into the second half.  Abdoulaye Kamagate penetrated the Ram defense on the right side  and fed a pass to Bility, who dribbled through traffic and launched a shot past the outstretched hands of SU goalkeeper Aiden Houck and into the left side of the net for the go-ahead goal.  The goal was Bility's third in the last two games.

Kervening Thelistin got the Griffins on the board early in the first half, taking a cross pass from Bility and banging into the net for a 1-0 lead.

Shepherd tied the game at the 15:26 mark on a penalty kick by Joshua Perry.

The Griffins had a dominant second half producing nine shots on goal to Shepherd's three, finishing the game with an 11-7 advantage and a 19-11 advantage in overall shots.  Bility led the way with six total shots (four on frame) while Kamagate had five (two on net).  Thelistin, Milan Umeoka, Dane Bodziak, Terance Doe and Luke Bodziak had the remaining shots on goal.

Rodrigo Artiga returned between the pipes after missing a game due to injury and was solid in net, recording six saves on the afternoon to earn his first win of the season.

The men's soccer team begins conference play on Wednesday night when they host Goldey-Beacom College at Victory Field.  Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
