The Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team opened conference play with a resounding 5-2 win over Goldey-Beacom College Wednesday night at Victory Field in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.
The win was the Griffins' third straight as they improve to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matches. The Lightning fall to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in league play. The win marked just the second time in the last five seasons that Chestnut Hill has won their first conference game of the season.
Mohamed Bility recorded his second two-goal game of the season while Abdoulaye Kamagate, Andres Gomez and Kervening Thelistin each scored once.
Rodrigo Artiga had four saves as he earned his second win of the season.
"It was great to get the first goal tonight and set the tone for the game," said Head Coach Jesse Zafiratos. "Starting 1-0 in conference play was a must for us and I was really proud of our execution in the final third of the game."
Bility wasted little time getting the Griffins on the board, taking a pass from Kamagate and putting in the net just 64 seconds into the game. Kamagate made it 2-0 in the 38th minute when his pass deflected off a Lightning defender and into the net.
Less than two minutes later, Gomez, playing in his first game since an injury in CHC's opening contest drove in on the left side and fired a hard shot past the GBC goalkeeper to give the Griffins a 3-0 lead. Terrence Doe assisted on the play.
The Lightning got on the board in the 42nd minute on a penalty kick goal by Tiwalade Ogunfadebo, rounding out the first half scoring as the Griffins took a 3-1 lead into halftime.
Bility pushed the lead back to three goals with his second score of the game early in the 61st minute, breaking away from the field after taking a pass from Kamagate and driving in on the right side to score. Thelistin added an unassisted goal in the 73rd minute to increase the lead to 5-1.
Goldey-Beacom's Sean Dickie scored in the 88th minute to round out the scoring.
Thelistin and Gomez finished the game with three shots on goal apiece while Bility and Kamagate had two. CHC recorded ten shots on goal while GBC had six.
The men's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, September 20, 2025, when they host nationally ranked Felician University at Victory Field. The Golden Falcons are currently ranked #22 in the most recent United Soccer coaches poll. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
