The Chestnut Hill College Women's Volleyball team opened conference play Wednesday night, falling to area rival Jefferson University 3-0 at TJU's Gallagher Athletic Center in Philadelphia.
The Griffins fall to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in Central Atlantic collegiate conference games. The Rams are 3-3 overall and 1-0 in league play.
Jefferson took home the first set 25-21 before defeating the Griffins 25-10 and 25-15 to complete the 3-0 sweep.
Nicole Dimiris and Maya Hopson led the Griffins with eight and seven kills respectively. Sarah Allen had Chestnut Hill's only two service aces on the night. Setting the offense was Sofia Rodriguez who finished with 19 assists.
Defensively Rodriguez and Allen led the team with seven digs apiece with Rachel Mace adding four. Micah McKenzie had two blocks to lead the team.
Emily McKenna led Jefferson with 16 kills.
The women's Volleyball team returns to action for four matches at the Crimson Hawk Classic, hosted by Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, Pa. on Friday and Saturday. The Griffins begin the tournament with an 11 a.m. match against host IUP.
