Lauren Sullivan scored her first goal of the season as the Chestnut Hill College Women's Soccer team won their second consecutive game, defeating Felician University 2-0 Saturday afternoon at Victory Field in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.
The Griffins improve to 2-4overalland 2-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. The Golden Falcons fall to 2-2-1 overall and 0-1 in league play.
Sullivan found the back of the net just nine minutes into the game as the Griffins were dominant in the early going. Hayden Johnston drove the ball down the left side and found Sullivan open in the center of the box. The senior then promptly kicked it into the upper center portion of the net for a 1-0 Chestnut Hill lead.
Chestnut Hill continued their strong play in the first half, outshooting the Golden Falcons 13-5Â while holding onto their 1-0 lead.
Johnston added the insurance goal early in the 52nd minute as she dribbled her way through three defenders to the left side of the box and one-timed a shot into the upper left portion of the net for a 2-0 Griffin lead.
The Griffin defense took over, not allowing another Golden Falcon shot the rest of the game as Chestnut Hill continued t press on the offensive end, getting off 11 shots in the final 38 minutes and finishing the game with a 29-6 advantage (13-3 on frame).
Johnston, Virginia Perry sand Bryce Westervelt finished the game with three shots on goal apiece. Perry and Sullivan had five total shots each with Westervelt and Johnston producing four shots apiece.
Ellie Stratz was solid in net, earning her first shutout of the season with three saves.
The women's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, September 27, 2025, when they travel to face Caldwell University in a rematch of last year's first round playoff contest, won by the Cougars via penalty kicks . Kickoff is set for 11:00 a.m.
