Late Goal Helps Griffins Forge a 1-1 Tie with Cougars

Terrance Doe's late goal lifted the Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team into a 1-1 tie with Caldwell University Saturday afternoon at the Caldwell Athletic Field in Caldwell, New Jersey.

With the tie the Griffins are now 4-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Games.   The Cougars are now 2-4-1 overall and 1-2-1 in league play.

Trailing 1-0 as the game was reaching its final five minutes, the Griffins were awarded a free kick after a Cougar foul.  Luke Bodziak took the kick and sent it towards the goal where it was headed by Abdoulaye Kamagate right onto the foot of Doe who kicked it past CU goalkeeper Justin Talbot for the game tying score with just 4:25 left on the clock.

Following the goal, the Cougars were awarded two corner kicks in the final 3:30 but managed just one shot on goal as the Griffins hung on for the tie.

Caldwell had taken a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute as Theodore Hertzenberg put a shot past Griffins' goalkeeper Rodrigo Artiga.

For the game, the Cougars outshot the Griffins 18-9 overall and 11-7 on frame.  Kamagate had three of the Griffins' seven shots on goal with Doe, Mohamed Bility, Andres Gomez and Robert Keegan recording one apiece.

Artiga finished the game with ten saves.

The men's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, with a game at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, New Jersey.  Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
