The Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis used a dominant singles effort to snap a three-game losing streak as they defeated Post University 5-2 Tuesday afternoon at the CHC Tennis Courts.
The Griffins improve to 3-3 overall with the win and 2-3 in Central Atlantic Collegiate conference games. The Eagles fall to 0-6 overall and 0-3 in league action.
Post took an early 2-0 lead in the match earning the doubles point and an automatic win at #6 singles as the Griffins only have five players on their roster. Chestnut Hill's lone win among the three doubles matches came at #1 doubles as Elena Arenas Guisasola and Milica Zagorac defeated Laura Kotala and Julie Merlin 6-0.
Chestnut Hill then proceeded to win all five singles contest played and all in straight sets. Zagorac started things off with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Merlin at#2 singles followed by Veronika Lundgren defeating Vitalina Sokoliuk 6-2, 6-2 at #3 singles, tying the match at 2-2.
Claudia Rasilla Romero followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Kotala at #4 singles and Arenas Guisasola clinched the match for the Griffins with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Ana Vasilis at #1 singles. Lilian Bandel completed the singles "sweep" with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Savanah Croft at #5 singles, making the final score 5-2.
The women's tennis team returns to action on Thursday, October 2, 2025 when they travel to face defending champion Wilmington University. First serve is at 2 p.m.
