Four players scored in double figures, but the Chestnut Hill College Men's Basketball team could not overcome a strong second half by Wilmington University as the Wildcats handed the Griffins their second straight loss, 79-64 at the WU Athletic Complex in New, Delaware Tuesday night.
The Griffins fall to 4-9 overall and 2-4 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. The Wildcats improve to 3-4 in league play and 7-8 overall.
Alejandro Redondo Cybak led all players with 20 points and also grabbed ten rebounds to notch his fifth double-double of the season. Amari Dow added 11 points while Jeremiah Gorham and Landon Shivers scored ten points apiece. Shivers also pulled down seven rebounds.  Kamal Lee led the team with six assists.
The Wildcats had rallied to take a two point lead at  halftime and gradually increased the margin as the second half progressed, making 60% of their shots from the field. Chestnut Hill however stayed within striking distance despite the strong shooting effort from the Wildcats, as the Wilmington lead was never any more than a three-possession gap for first 14 minutes of the period.
A basket from Tyler Spencer pulled the griffins within five 59-54 with 6:32 left before the Wildcats went on an 16-5 run to lead by 16 with just 1:54 remaining, 75-59. The Griffins would come no closer than the final margin the rest of the way.
Earlier, in the first half, the Griffins jumped out to a 12-point advantage, 22-10 at the 11:22 mark, highlighted by a pair of three-point baskets from Shivers and another three-ball from Dow.  Over the next four minutes the Wildcats went on a tear, scoring 13 straight points to take a 23-22 lead. Cybak stopped the run with a basket at the 7:10 mark to put the Griffins back on top. The Wildcats followed with another big run, this one a 10-3 effort to lead 33-26 with 3:27 left.  Three minutes later the Griffins capped a 9-1 run with Cybak scoring the final seven points of the half for the Griffins as they took a 35-34 lead. A three-point basket by WU's Denim Perkins as time was running out put the Wildcats on top at halftime 37-35.
Akeem ?Taylor led five Wildcat players in double figures with 19 points   Jaiden Guy had 16 and Perkins 13.
The Wildcats outshot the Griffins in the contest 57.7% (30-52) to 38.3% (23-60). CHC made eight three-point baskets, four off the hands of their big men, Cybak and Shivers. Perkins had three of WU's five three-point buckets.  The Wildcats also held a 33-31 rebounding edge and had a 13-0 margin in fast break points, while scoring 20 points off CHC's 12 turnovers. The Griffins scored 13 points off WU's 15 turnovers.
The men's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, January 10, 2026 when they host the University of Bridgeport at Sorgenti Arena. Tipoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
