The Chestnut Hill College Women's Volleyball team fought hard but dropped a 3-1 decision to the University of Bridgeport Monday night at Sorgenti Arena.
Bridgeport won the opening set 25-22 before the Griffins rallied to take the second set 25-21. The Purple Knights then won the last two sets 25-19 and 25-21.
The Griffins fall to 7-15 overall and 2-7 in Central Atlantic Collegiate conference games. The Purple Knights improve to 7-14 overall and 3-6 in league play.
The trio of Macayla Lindner, Alex Crespin and Kayle Arozio combined to produced 45 of the Griffins 51 kills in the match. Lindner led all players with 18 kills. Arozio and Crespin had 14 and 13 respectively.  Lindner, Katelyn Dougherty and Ayla Mirarchi led the Griffins with three aces apiece. Sofia Rodriguez dished out a match high 43 assists on the evening.
On the defensive end, Rachel Mace led the team with 25 digs while Rodriguez and Crespin had 15 and 14 digs respectively and recorded double doubles on the night. Arozio had three blocks.
For the game, the Griffins recorded 51 kills while hitting .164 (51-23-171). The Purple Knights hit .238 (43-9-143).  Chestnut Hill held a slight 10-7 lead in aces, but both teams struggled with their service game with the Purple Knights committing 16 service errors and the Griffins 19. Chestnut Hill also had an 80-76 advantage in digs.
The women's volleyball team returns to action on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 when they host Goldey-Beacom College at Sorgenti Arena. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
